Steve completed 32 years exemplary police service, 28 years of which he spent as a dog handler. During his career Steve achieved Home Office accreditation as an instructor, he was also a puppy mentor which gave him responsibility for the training of police dog handlers from the moment they were allocated their eight week old puppies, overseeing both the handlers and puppies development, offering advice and demonstrating training techniques which would enable the dog to progress on to complete a training course to become a licensed police dog. Steve was also responsible for the continuance of training for dogs that had graduated from the police dog training school in all aspects of work including dog trials where he gained further experience by both competing and teaching at all levels.
